On Thursday, March 16, Sarah Neufeld shared with our Sr High group about her journey through bulimia. Click here to see Kent’s sketch notes from her talk. Click here to visit Sarah’s blog and read about her story.

Below are notes and questions that we discussed at youth:

Self Image: We all have a mental picture of who we are, how we look, what we’re good at, and what our weaknesses might be. We develop this picture over time, starting when we’re very young.

Self-esteem: How you FEEL about yourself on the inside, how much value you think you have, how much confidence you have in yourself.

What informs, influences, or shapes a person’s mental picture of who they are and their value?

Why do we think we should look a certain way? Why is there so much focus in our society on body image?

How do images we see in the media affect our daily lives?

What roles do movies, television, music, magazines, peers, beauty and clothing industries, and parents play in influencing your self-worth?

What Bible-based ideas should be included in our self-image and our self-esteem? How does a Christ follower view their body and their worth? How do they view and treat other people? How can your words give life and reflect God’s view of each person this week?
